9/11 Mastermind to be Tried...in New York City

I think Don Surber sums it up about right:
The Obama administration is going to try Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the mastermind behind 9/11, in New York City.

Are they crazy?

Putting aside for a moment the security issues, how pray tell do you get a fair and impartial jury in New York City?

This is nuts. This is a built-in mistrial. This is giving him the world stage to spreead his hate.

The irony is that liberals want to intimidate Christians with hate speech, but they are going to let this guy spew in a trial that will be overturned simply on the grounds that it is being held in the last place on Earth where he can get a fair trial.

He is guilty.

Have a military tribunal try the guy and execute him. If the military system is good enough for our soldiers, it is good enough for our enemies.
How in the world do you find impartial jurors in a city where they can easily see the big hole in the ground where the World Trade Center used to be?

I think Obama is intentionally throwing the case.

Maybe he thinks if enough Muslims get picked for the trial, it will be fair. Where is the outrage from the 'righteous' Muslims that supposedly are living in our country?

If they think terrorism is wrong, why haven't we heard from them?

Why IS there a trial? The guy has pleaded guilty. He said he wants to be executed. Why aren't they proceeding to sentencing?

On the upside, however, I don't think Obama or Democrats will be able to count on New Yorkers as shoo-in votes after this. Maybe even New Yorkers will start realizing that Big O is not on their side.

Beside that, it's sheer lunacy to have a civil trial for this guy.

All the defense has to do is move for dismissal on the grounds that he can't get a fair hearing.

On the other hand, there are some very nasty rules in place that let you get tried twice for the same offense: if they find you "not guilty" in civil court, they can charge and try you all over again in a Federal court.

That's not likely to happen in this case.

The next thing the defense will try is the "jury of his peers" idea. Jury must be mostly Muslim. Allahu Akhbar!

Me, I think that's a feature, not a bug. It's not the hole where the Twin Towers were, it's the NYT and The New Yorker and the Unions and all the Dems there.

Though if the trial actually happens, will New Yorkers actually appreciate the imposition on their lives?
