You could almost read
this story straight from the New Testament:
A Long Island couple is home free after an outraged judge gave them an amazing Thanksgiving present — canceling their debt to ruthless bankers trying to toss them out on the street.
Suffolk Judge Jeffrey Spinner wiped out $525,000 in mortgage payments demanded by a California bank, blasting its "harsh, repugnant, shocking and repulsive" acts, the New York Post reported.
The bombshell decision leaves Diane Yano-Horoski and her husband, Greg Horoski, owing absolutely no money on their ranch house in East Patchogue.
Spinner pulled no punches as he smacked down the bankers at OneWest — who took an $814.2 million federal bailout but have a record of coldbloodedly foreclosing on any homeowner owing money.
"The bank was so intransigent that he [the judge] decided to punish them," Greg Horoski, 55, said about Spinner's scathing ruling last Thursday against OneWest and its IndyMac mortgage division.
It erased up to $291,000 in principal and $235,000 in interest and penalties.
And where's the Biblical connection? Try this parable from
Matthew 18:23-35 (from The Message paraphrase):
23 -25"The kingdom of God is like a king who decided to square accounts with his servants. As he got under way, one servant was brought before him who had run up a debt of a hundred thousand dollars. He couldn't pay up, so the king ordered the man, along with his wife, children, and goods, to be auctioned off at the slave market.
26 -27"The poor wretch threw himself at the king's feet and begged, 'Give me a chance and I'll pay it all back.' Touched by his plea, the king let him off, erasing the debt.
28"The servant was no sooner out of the room when he came upon one of his fellow servants who owed him ten dollars. He seized him by the throat and demanded, 'Pay up. Now!'
29 -31"The poor wretch threw himself down and begged, 'Give me a chance and I'll pay it all back.' But he wouldn't do it. He had him arrested and put in jail until the debt was paid. When the other servants saw this going on, they were outraged and brought a detailed report to the king.
32 -35"The king summoned the man and said, 'You evil servant! I forgave your entire debt when you begged me for mercy. Shouldn't you be compelled to be merciful to your fellow servant who asked for mercy?' The king was furious and put the screws to the man until he paid back his entire debt. And that's exactly what my Father in heaven is going to do to each one of you who doesn't forgive unconditionally anyone who asks for mercy."
Substitute the federal government for the king, IndyMac bank for the first servant, and the Horoski family for the second servant and you can see the how the Biblical story parallels the real life story.

First of all, the vast majority of the banks were FORCED by the Feds to take the TARP money. Do some research.
Second, foreclosure is the right of one of the parties to the contract in case of default. It's in the contract! Now it's coldblooded? Come now. It's the rule of law, and the basis for our capitalist system, in case you didn't know.
This sets a VERY troubling legal precedent. A precedent that judges can forgive debt for citizens who legitimately owe the debt.
What about TILA violation? Banks violate homeowners' rights. The unfortunate homeowners are at the mercy of the bank if they don't know where to get help. The banks knowing this go before the judge and get the go-ahead to foreclose the property or if a judge is not needed then the home is auctioned on the steps of the courthouse after 30 days notice from the bank's attorney.
Is this justice? The banks get the bail-outs they have the funds to pay their attorneys. This judge did the right thing.
This judge has a very good heart and a very, very good Judge! I am so glad to see this One West Bank disappear! For this bank has no heart and soul! This One West Bank, is cruel and do not forgive a poor people! Period! Thanks to this Judge! God Bless you Judge! You are my Idol!
