We head into the Christmas season wishing for leadership in Washington that reflects our commitment to the values and ideals that have built the freest and most prosperous and generous nation on earth.Obama will be speaking at West Point on Tuesday where he is expected to announce his plans for Afghanistan, a decision that has dragged on for months.
Heading into December and Tuesday’s announcement of our nation’s strategy in Afghanistan, I ask the President to reassure us that the administration is in this War on Terror to win.
And I’ll pass along the following from Harold B. Estes, a 95-year-old member of the Greatest Generation: “I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you’re the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you’re not in this fight to win, then get out.”
Thank you, Mr. President. Please tell us on Tuesday that America is in it to win.

"Please Tells Us That America is in It to Win It"
That's the message Sarah Palin has for Barack Obama (from her Facebook site):

A comment heard yesterday was brought back when I read this story. "America has not fought a war with the will to win, since World War II." I'd have to say, sadly, that I agree with his quote.
Jingoism is great ain't it?
Now define a "win" in Afganistan for us. Concretely. Good luck with that.
I feel the same way Susan. And furthermore if the jerk should airbrush a comment such as Gov. Palin is asking for, it will be nothing for he has neither the will, nor the ear to knowledge, of how to win.
We win. They lose. A stable government follows.
There, I did it in eight words. And it wasn't that hard either.

Who put us in Afghanistan?
Maybe Sarah Palin should have been speaking to President Bush these past 8 years.
Lew,
What good would it have done if Sarah talked to Bush the 8 years he was in office. Seems to me like he had a Democrat controlled congress that could have changed things if they had the backbone to do it.
Anonymous,
President Bush led us into Afghanistan 8 years ago.
And we are still fighting there.
Mission NOT Accomplished
And read this idiocy from former VP Cheney:
Cheney was asked if he thinks the Bush administration bears any responsibility for the disintegration of Afghanistan because of the attention and resources that were diverted to Iraq. “I basically don’t,” he replied without elaborating.
Didn't get the job done in eight years.
Legacy of Bush/Cheney.
