Either Vote to Fund Abortion Or I'll Shut Down Your Air Base

I was just listening to Hugh Hewitt who had some inside info on the meeting between the Senate Dems and Obama regarding the Obamacare bill. While changes have been made to dump the public option and the Medicare buy-in to placate Joe Lieberman, the funding for abortion is still in the bill and that's a no-go for Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson.

According to a report Hugh was reading Rahm Emanuel has informed Nelson that if he doesn't drop his objection to the bill the White House will place Offhut Air Force Base in Nebraska on the base closing list. Offhut employs some 10,000 people and isn't just another Air Force Base, it's also home to the Strategic Defense Command which would lead our forces in responding to an attack on the homeland. They chose that location on purpose - in the middle of the country where they would have the greatest amount of time to prepare for an incoming strike.

You may remember that Offhut played an important role on 9/11. When Air Force One was looking for someplace where the president could conduct a video conference with the Pentagon and White House officials, that's where they headed after refueling in Louisiana. It's a very important base. (They now have video conferencing capability on AF1.)

This is Chicago politics at its best. Either vote for me or a lot of innocent people will get hurt. It also shows that the White House has no concern whatsoever about national defense, but is more concerned about passing their leftist social program.

Ben Nelson needs to call their bluff.
