YOUR FREE, FIERCELY INDEPENDENT PRESS AT WORK: 56 Newspapers to Sing As One About Copenhagen. Fiercely independent.Tim Blair, the blogger from Down Under, adds this from his neck of the woods:
So much for media diversity:Today 56 major newspapers in 45 countries speak with one voice on climate change ahead of the Copenhagen summit.
But not every outlet approached to join this mass whine was supportive:
One US paper’s response: “This is an outrageous attempt to orchestrate media pressure. Go to hell.”
And look who had second thoughts:
Both the Sydney Morning Herald and Melbourne Age dropped out of the project after climate change convulsed Australian politics, demanding, they felt, a more localised editorial position.
Dropped out, eh? That’s not how the Age tells it:
The Age was invited to take part in the global editorial but declined.
Don't confuse a free press with free thinkers.
