Political Quote of the Day

From James Taranto, writing about Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV):
“He has a propensity for saying things that are splenetic, inappropriate and ignorant, such as his embarrassing series of claims a few years ago that Clarence Thomas was unintelligent. This, however, raises a question that has long puzzled us about Reid: How did such an unappealing man who says so many foolish things get so far in politics? . . . Still, his success to this point seems something of a miracle–an inspiration to dour, foolish men everywhere.”
Nailed it.

I was wondering that when I saw some of Reid's smarmy speech on TV yesterday: how did such a strange little man end up as one of only 100 senators serving our country?

Some of the people in the Senate make one wonder about a) the kinds of people serving in politics and b) how the rest of us end up voting them into office.

Best wishes,
Laura

From what I have seen, much of the public is like a dumb sheep, they just follow the crowd. Money spent on advertisments by people wanting to become a "public servant" are similar to adds by some used car dealers, they are a bait and switch type add, or they are outright lies. The public has come to believe them and then they vote these crooks into office. Once a politician gets into office it is very hard to get them out. Reid is one of these who has managed to work his way to the top, to the disadvantage of the U.S. Citizens. 2010 is coming and hopefully he can be VOTED OUT of his office.
