Today's Petty Sarah Palin Controversy

Jeez. The left hates Sarah Palin so much that any perceived slight...ANY perceived slight, can be spun into a controversy in their fevered brains. Just look at this:
Rogues, it seems, will be rogues: As she promotes her new book with an equally hyped down-home bus tour, former vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor Sarah Palin has been jetting to some stops on a Gulfstream II private jet, which rents for $4,000 an hour.

According to the blog Palingates, which first reported the story, Palin took the plane on Nov. 21, 23 and 25 between book tour stops in Rochester, N.Y., Roanoke, Va., Fort Bragg, N.C., Birmingham, Ala., and Orlando, Fla. On Nov. 25, she then flew to Pasco, Wash., for Thanksgiving and was met at the airport by a bevy of journalists who filmed the landing.

Larger media outlets have since played up the apparent bait-and-switch. Yesterday morning on ABC's Good Morning America, Diane Sawyer introduced a segment on Palin's private-jet use by saying that Palin "frequently can be seen photographed in front of the bus that she took on the road. But ... you don't often see photos of her in front of a very expensive private plane she's been taking." Correspondent David Wright then noted that Palin was traveling in style even as "her fans camped out in the bitter cold, just for the chance to meet her."

Palin responded to the reports Tuesday afternoon on her Facebook page. "If you're scratching your head wondering why my flight and hotel logistics warrant news coverage, join the club," she wrote.

So, the book publisher has leased a very nice bus to use as a rolling billboard for the book as well as a way to travel to some of the events. However, just because there's a nice bus doesn't mean Palin was obligated to spend every moment of the tour riding on it. For Pete's sake, are these same people outraged because Al Gore flies around in a private jet while telling the rest of us that our carbon output will destroy the earth?

Her book as sold 1,000,000 copies in the first 10 days of release. Another 1.8 million are in print as the publisher scrambles to keep up with demand. She can afford to travel any way she wants to and if a private jet makes that travel easier, who cares?

The bus is a prop for the tour just like the posters, stand-up signs and other advertising. It's not a binding contract with the left that Palin will only travel via that vehicle.

I'm just amazed at the vitriol she inspires from the left and the extent they will to go create controversies out of absolutely nothing.

From what I've read, the publisher of her book is picking up the tab for the plane.

I'm amazed at the hypocrisy of the left. If it were Oprah flying around in a private jet, that would be OK.

The mentally ill left would be complaining if Palin were riding a bicycle across the States.

These critics aren't reading the book, and evidently they don't even look at the pictures either. There's a picture of Palin in the book at what seems to be quite clearly an airport. She leans over to receive a hug from Piper and seems ready to board (or has just debarked) a rather largish airplane in the background.

What do they want her to do? Snowmobile to her events?
