Ben Nelson Meets the Voters

It wasn't just the pizza that was hot in Omaha:
Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson and his wife were leaving dinner at a new pizza joint near their home in Omaha one night last week when a patron began complaining about Nelson’s decisive vote in favor of the Senate’s health care bill.

Other customers started booing. A woman yelled, “Get him the hell out of here!” And the Nelsons and their dining companions beat a hasty retreat.

“It was definitely a scene in there,” said Tom Lewis, a 41-year-old dentist and registered Republican who witnessed the incident. A second witness confirmed the incident to POLITICO.

It’s a new experience for Nelson.

Nelson may be the next one to retire before his seat comes up for election again in 2012. I'm not sure he's going to want to spend much time with the voters in Nebraska.

I guess in the olden days the residents would have tar & feathered him and ran him out of town. He's lucky he was able to leave without there being a serious incident. He better start writing his resume as I think he is going to need one when he comes up for re-election.

I wish somebody would say where this all took place--I'd hate to unwittingly patronize the place.

I don't know where Nelson lives--is it safe to just not patronize pizza joints near Regency?
