Two More Supreme Court Openings?

Supreme Court watchers think there could be two retirements this Spring:
Lawyers for President Obama have been working behind the scenes to prepare for the possibility of one, and maybe two Supreme Court vacancies this spring.

Court watchers believe two of the more liberal members of the court, justices John Paul Stevens and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, could decide to step aside for reasons of age and health. That would give the president his second and third chance to shape his legacy on the Supreme Court.

Ginsberg and Stevens are two of the most (if not THE most) liberal members on the court. It would be hard to replace them with someone even more liberal, so the likelihood is the make-up of the court would not change even if Obama got both nominations through. The only problem would be the age factor - replacing old justices with much younger justices who could serve for many more years.

Let's just continue to pray for the health of Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, Kennedy and Alito.

Let us also pray that Pres Obama does not find a way to expand the number of Supreme Court Justices!
