Former Vice President Dick Cheney has injected himself into Kentucky’s Senate contest, endorsing Republican hopeful Trey Grayson as “the real conservative in this race.”I guess Cheney is a bit afraid that nuts don't fall far from the tree.
In a statement, Mr. Cheney indicated that Mr. Grayson, Kentucky’s secretary of state, would be stronger on national security and fiscal issues than his primary opponent – Rand Paul, an ophthalmologist and son of Representative Ron Paul, the 2008 presidential candidate.
“Trey Grayson knows we must stay on offense in the fight against terrorism by keeping the terrorist detention facility at Guantanamo Bay open and trying terrorist suspects using military tribunals, supporting the troop surges in Iraq and Afghanistan, and maintaining the Patriot Act so we can effectively monitor the activities of terrorists abroad,” Mr. Cheney said.
