Not All Insurers Are Against Obamacare

I had a conversation recently with a regional manager for a large insurance company. I won't give the name, but let's just say their advertising involves a duck. They don't sell regular health plans, but sell supplemental plans for various features that someone might want that's not covered under their company health care plan.

A big majority of this company's business comes from Japan where they have nationalized health care, but the plan is very limited in what it will actually cover...much like what we can expect from Obamacare. Consequently, the Japanese purchase a lot of policies to cover the stuff their national health care plan doesn't.

This manager told me his company can't wait for Obamacare to pass because they expect their business to explode as consumers try to purchase coverage for the things they lost when their company-funded plans were dropped and they were dumped into the federal system.

I think he might be a little overoptimistic about the results of Obamacare on his business. For one thing, there's no guarantee that he'll still be allowed to operate and sell the types of policies he's selling. The Japanese may let them, but that doesn't mean Obama will.

It's too bad the "duck" manager can only see the dollars in his pocket and not the impact Obamacare will have on the country and on our freedom. If he really examined what that program will mean to his family and their futures, I'm not sure he'd be so enthused.

Yeah, and their NASCAR driver doesn't know how to wreck someone without making it obvious either.
