Tea Party Members More Informed Than Congress

That's the consensus of a lot of people according to Rasmussen Reports:
In official Washington, some consider the Tea Party movement a fringe element in society, but voters across the nation feel closer to the Tea Party movement than they do to Congress.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 52% of U.S. voters believe the average member of the Tea Party movement has a better understanding of the issues facing America today than the average member of Congress. Only 30% believe that those in Congress have a better understanding of the key issues facing the nation.

When it comes to those issues, 47% think that their own political views are closer to those of the average Tea Party member than to the views of the average member of Congress. On this point, 26% feel closer to Congress.

Finally, 46% of voters say that the average Tea Party member is more ethical than the average member of Congress. Twenty-seven percent (27%) say that the average member of Congress is more ethical.
We saw just how ethical Congress is last Sunday as the "pro-life" wing of the Democrat House sold their souls for a few bucks in pork spending, a worthless executive order from Obama, and a few magic beans. Add to that the chief tax writer is a tax dodger and ethics are in short supply among congressmen.

I do worry when I see polls like this that it will motivate some Tea Party members to go the third party route. Democrats would love nothing more than to see a new Tea Party placing candidates in races knowing that those candidates would on take votes from GOP candidates and help elect Democrats. The proper place for the Tea Party movement is within the GOP, taking control of it if necessary, but staying within the party.

Third party route is a temptation to be avoided like other temptations.

Similarly, one hears increasing talk about violence in response to Obama's partisans and their false accusations about the Tea Party movement. And with Easter upon us, I think that one needs to remember that Christians are to be the "salt" in the meal (yeah, I know they want to ban that in New York!). It's incumbent upon Christians to ratchet down the rhetoric even as the other side ratchets it up.

Do not be dragged into the "us verses them" false arguments of the Left. It is not us verses them, it is them verses other thems. Most of the country is on our side.

More and more I believe God permits these events to unfold as a test of the nation. Our democracy has never been so assaulted from within, but the solution resides inside the hearts of ordinary Americans. Keep waking people up.

One thing McCain said that was so true and which the other side ridiculed him for during the campaign was that "the fundamentals are strong." McCain was talking about the nation, its resources, its infrastructure, its institutions. But more significant is that the hearts of Americans still have a true compass.

Lot's of people have been asleep, some are practically in a coma. But wake them up. This is a country of good, hard-working, decent people. And we can fight the Good Fight in the good way. After all, whose side is God on?

That's because the tea partiers aren't in the DC echo chamber.
