WASHINGTON — President Obama said Monday that he was revamping American nuclear strategy to substantially narrow the conditions under which the United States would use nuclear weapons, even in self-defense. ...When talking about Republicans Obama says "if they bring a knife we bring a gun". When talking about our national enemies he says "if they bring a gun we'll bring a sharply worded letter."
Mr. Obama’s strategy is a sharp shift from those of his predecessors and seeks to revamp the nation’s nuclear posture for a new age in which rogue states and terrorist organizations are greater threats than traditional powers like Russia and China.
It eliminates much of the ambiguity that has deliberately existed in American nuclear policy since the opening days of the cold war. For the first time, the United States is explicitly committing not to use nuclear weapons against nonnuclear states that are in compliance with the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, even if they attacked the United States with biological or chemical weapons or launched a crippling cyberattack.
Imagine what might have happened last night if Coach K at Duke had given his playbook to Butler? That's pretty much what Obama is doing with this policy change. He claims to want to eliminate the "ambiguity", but he's also telegraphing our moves to the enemy. A little ambiguity is a good thing when it comes to weapons of mass destruction. You never want the enemy to be sure exactly how you might react in a situation. Better to have them think you might be crazy enough to use the weapons than to have ironclad rules that ban their use in certain situations.
This is a prescription for national suicide and any politician from either party who doesn't stand up and denounce this policy needs to be run out of there in November if not sooner.

During the lead-up to the war in Iraq, the "peace" activists began protesting even before there was a war. What if Saddam had really understood that he was playing with a massive invasion of Iraq on a scale of nothing he could even imagine? What if he had foreseen the miserable indignity of his being captured while hiding in a hole in the ground? What if?
Perhaps there hadn't been a war .... it's not as though it was impossible not to fight.
The problem with Leftists is that they cannot be bothered to give Saber Rattling a chance. Sometimes the threat of violence prevents violence.
I don't think they are anti-war at all. I think they like war. I think it feeds the sanctimonious spirit. I know they are hypocrits because I know they love their own hides dearly.
