Some southern Arizona hotel owners and operators are concerned their businesses will be harmed financially if tourists and others decide to boycott the state because of the state's immigration enforcement law. They're worried about the wrong thing. For every braindead liberal who refuses to go to Arizona there will be two conservatives who think Arizona sounds like a mighty fine place to go. There will still be plenty of hotel business for everybody.
Bisbee's High Desert Inn co-owner Pearl Lind says that while it's too early to tell what impact the law will have, it's more likely to lead to bad economic conditions for their hotel and others in Cochise County.
Bisbee resident and El Dorado Suites Hotel owner Tim Race says that whatever happens, he doesn't believe it will be positive.
Tourism is one of the biggest sources of income for Arizona.
The guys in southern Arizona, such as Sierra Vista where this story came from, have more to worry about in terms of what's coming up from the South than what's not coming in from the north. If tourists are going to avoid those southern Arizona areas it will be because of fears of crime and violence from Mexican drug cartels who have brought their wars across the border.
