From Bill Press: “Is there nothing sacred anymore? Apparently not. And certainly not the Lincoln Memorial or the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In a slap at both President Lincoln and Dr. King, not to mention the American people, the National Park Service has given Glenn Beck permission to hold a Tea Party rally on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on August 28 – 47 years to the day after Martin Luther King gave his magnificent I Have A Dream speech. If you ask me, that’s like granting al Qaeda permission to hold a rally on September 11 – at Ground Zero… Glenn Beck’s August 28 Tea Party rally at the Lincoln Memorial is an abomination. It should be canceled – immediately.”As a matter of fact a 15-story mosque is scheduled to open right next to Ground Zero on 9/11/11, the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Has Press called for the cancellation of that event?
By the way, I gave my own speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, but I couldn't get anyone to stop and listen:
Frankly, I think choosing that date and location are a stroke of genius. MLK was looking for freedom for his people. Beck is doing the same.
