One of my projects the last few months is going through my mother's garage and getting rid of stuff that's no longer needed. Along the way I came across a box full of slide packages. Most of these haven't been seen in decades and we thought it would be a fun family night to set up all the gear and watch them. Tonight's the night.
I've spent some quality time going through the packages, some marked and many unmarked, and have tried to identify the year in which they were taken. Many of the slides had processing dates stamped on them, so that made it easy. Others I had to take my best guess on the year. I set aside photos of scenery and shots without family in them and pared the whole thing down about a little over 1,200 photos. I don't know how far we'll get tonight, but it should be interesting. We'll start with 1962 and work our way forward.
Along the way we'll see some beauties like this:
Our family reunion in Colorado Springs in 1965. That's me in the lower left along with my mom and sister, mom's parents, and mom's sister and her family.
My kids came by their marching band talent honestly, That's me on the trumpet marching with the La Quinta High School Marching Band in the Strawberry Festival parade in Garden Grove, 1971.
Before I ever sang in a quartet we put together a lip-sync comedy group for a choir banquet at Garden Grove Nazarene Church in June, 1973. I could fake-hit really low notes.
And finally, Mr. Dashing 1974, right around the time I graduated from high school. You could turn the lights out and still see that suit.
Should be fun.

That suit!!!! Oh gosh, I'll most likely have nightmares when I go to bed! How far did you have to chase that guy to get his suit? You must have really lived dangerously.
