Lance MacLean, Mission Viejo's former mayor who was recalled by 19 votes in February, pulled papers with the City Clerk on Wednesday, becoming the 11th potential candidate for one of three open seats on the City Council. After everything the MacLean and the city went through with the recall, why do it all over again? Is it the lifetime medical for council members? Or the kickbacks from developers? There must be something other than just "public service" that's driving this decision.
MacLean joins Mayor Trish Kelley and Mayor Pro Tem Dave Leckness, who was elected to MacLean's seat, as the only potential candidates who have served on the city's highest panel.
The seats of Kelley, Leckness and termed-out councilman John Paul Ledesma are open in November.
