As they walked past me Moron 1 said: "I'm just glad I've got my bong and my weed and I'm going to get totally stoned."
A lady in front of us responded sarcastically: "Very nice."
Moron 1 turned around and said: "It's okay. It's legal for us. We have our medical marijuana cards."
The lady responded again, her voice dripping with irony: "Oh, you have medical problems?"
Moron 1 smirked back: "Yes, I have chronic back pain." He said that as he was walking at a fast pace down the beach with his surfboard.
He's got the perfect medical marijuana diagnosis, and the one that probably justifies more bogus prescriptions than any other - chronic back pain. Almost impossible to see on an x-ray or other test, so proving somebody is lying is pretty much a non-starter. These guys are druggies and some doctor is facilitating their habit.
And we can thank the State of California for allowing it, and the Federal Government for not enforcing the laws against it.
And speaking of morons:
The 200,000-member United Food and Commercial Workers, Western States Council, on Wednesday announced its support for Proposition 19, the initiative to legalize marijuana in California. The can pass all the initiatives they want but possession or use of marijuana will still be a federal crime.
[snip]
Ron Lind, international president of the union, and Dan Rush of its Local 5 also spoke out in favor of Proposition 19.
“The marriage of the cannabis-hemp industry and UFCW is a natural one,” said Rush. “We are an agriculture, food-processing and retail union, as is this industry.”

I'm just waiting for the heads of liberals to explode when those evil, profit-mongering drug companies drive all the organic, mom-and-pop marijuana "collectives" out of business: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iEfyr1l3JEtTrX-S4fmAgRFTfxcwD9H1IOD80
No one knows the long-term affects of chronic pot-smoking on health. I've said it before on this website: pot is not the innocuous substance the State officials want you to think it is.
In 20 years it will be found to have more detrimental effects than tobacco.
You heard it here first.
