My Bonnie Lies Over Miami

Tropical Storm Bonnie has made landfall over Florida:
Tropical Storm Bonnie has made landfall over Florida and poses a looming threat to the entire Gulf Coast as forecasters expected the storm to pick up strength as it blows through the Gulf.

The storm is following a course that would take it across the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, prompting a pause in efforts to clean up the disaster.

A tropical storm warning has been issued for the region, extending from parts of Florida to Louisiana.

The tropical storm has maximum sustained winds Friday near 40 mph. The storm is expected to strengthen when it moves into the Gulf of Mexico late Friday night and Saturday.
The current forecast cone will take the storm right over the oil spill area and pretty much right into New Orleans, though it's not forecast to strengthen into a hurricane. However, it could still mean winds up to 73 mph and significant storm surges if it arrives as a strong tropical storm.  Oil that has been sitting offshore could be pushed well into inland waters in Louisiana and could have a devastating impact in many important fisheries.
