We had a rare Orange County thunderstorm move just east of us this afternoon bringing some heavy rain in the eastern part of the county and lots of vivid lightning. The Orange County Fire Authority had a number of calls for burning palm trees on a golf course not far from us thanks to the lightning, and after dinner we headed down to San Clemente Beach for a walk along the water.
The view from the pier was pretty spectacular with dark clouds and lightning flashes to the east, and as we were getting ready to head home, we were treated to a rainbow. My cellphone camera didn't do it justice, but it's the best I had available at the time:
