Facing the toughest re-election fight of her career, three-term U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer attributed her sagging approval rating to voters who are "grumpy" about the sputtering economy and an opponent, Republican nominee Carly Fiorina, who "doesn't have a job" and spends her time "going around the state trashing me in every way possible."Do you think she'd be pushing for a drop in the filibuster limit if she thought the Democrats were going to hold the Senate?
The California Democrat's remarks came during an hourlong interview with the Mercury News editorial board, in which she cast the election as a choice between moving forward or returning to the policies of President George W. Bush; suggested she would favor raising the Social Security tax on "very upper-income workers" to help balance the federal budget; and said she favors lowering the filibuster threshold in the Senate from 60 votes to 55 to curb what she called Republican obstructionism.
And don't worry about Carly, Babs, she'll have a job in January and you can join millions of your constituents looking for something else to do.
