I Wish We Could Issue Everyone a Political GPS

No, not for tracking where you're going, but for telling you when you're turning the wrong direction.

I just bought a GPS unit for my mom's car, a Magellan Roadmate like the one in the Amazon ad at left, which is a handy little device for someone who may be unsure of where they're going (or where they are at the moment).   With one button it will always take you home from wherever you are, and that's nice to have if someone is driving her that doesn't have as much local road knowledge as I do.

The unit talks to you as you navigate to an address you've given it, advising when the next turn will be and which direction.  And once you get to that turn you hear two bells.  If it's a right turn you'll hear bong-BONG, the second bong being a perfect fourth above the first (think the first two notes of the "Wedding March").  If it's a right turn, you hear BONG-bong, the second note down a fourth, just like when someone says "uh-oh".

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone was issued a political GPS so that when the president or Congress tried to turn the country to the left we'd all hear "uh-oh"?

I think that could solve a lot of problems.

Just make sure she takes the GPS out of the holder, and put it on the floor. They are stolen a lot, and if 'home' is in there, they can find her home.

Of course, if someone stole mine, and tried to find my home, they'd turn around after 100 miles and say it isn't worth it.

I bought one of those units this year, and really do like it. It got us out of Washington, DC, and home!

So a right turn--is either a bong-BONG or a BONG-bong. I'm gonna be LOST-lost, and stuck on an island lost in time...and lost in Space.

I love my Magellan. Not only turn-by-turn (TBT), but TBT with address names. Plus, it's great if you're traveling, but think you're running late, with the ETA timing. Also, if you have an older vehicle in your fleet, it can help you confirm a problem with the speedometer (one of my companies F350's says it's going 65, but only going 60). They're a great asset and the prices are nice nowadays. :)
