Sen. Russ Feingold became Tuesday the first Democrat to denounce the lame-duck session, saying such work periods “are sometimes used to consider extremely controversial policies.”The problem is, I don't believe any Democrat who swears he won't misuse the lame-duck session to pass things the voters hate. This is an effort to preserve his job in a race that's now rated a toss-up, and once that decision is made in November there won't be any reason for him to stick with his statement.
