This week will mark the 6th anniversary of HolyCoast.com. I began blogging on
September 15, 2004, right in the heart of the presidential race and the Rathergate Texas Air National Guard scandal that eventually cost Dan Rather his job. I was inspired by a number of people, including Hugh Hewitt, whose radio show and blog encouraged everyone to get into blogging if they felt they had something to say. I took a shot and here I am six years later.
Since then I've posted nearly 21,000 individual items on a host of subjects, from politics to social issues to religion to humor to personal stuff. It's been a lot of fun and I hope to continue as long as I think I've got something to add to the discussion.
This week I'm running a fundraiser for the site. The expenses are not extreme, but they're not zero either. For those of you who can I'd appreciate your support for the site. You can use the PayPal button below or in the top of the sidebar.
Thank you for reading, commenting, sharing posts on Facebook and Twitter, and emailing them to your friends. I couldn't do it without you!

Us in Illinois love your blog, Rick, and have for the past year or so. When I need the most current news, I skip TV and come to HolyCoast.com. Worth more than my $10, but everything counts. :)
