Murkowski to Lose as a Write-in Candidate

Sen. Lisa Murkowski has decided to become one of the rare politicians to lose twice in the same election cycle, both times while running for the same job:
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) will run for re-election as a write-in candidate after losing her bid for renomination, according to sources briefed on Murkowski's decision.

Murkowski's decision will set up a 3-way battle between the incumbent, Miller and Sitka Mayor Scott McAdams (D), potentially turning the race on its head. Private 3-way polling has shown Miller leading, but by a narrow margin.
The response from the GOP should be swift - strip her of her seniority in the Senate and take her off of all committee assignments. She should be the senator from nowhere from now until her term expires.

Now let's see, moderate Arlen Specter bolted the party and got beat in the Dem primary, moderate Charlie Crist bolted the party to run as an independent in Florda and is getting trounced by Marco Rubio, moderate Mike Castle got beat in Delaware and is refusing to endorse Christine O'Donnell, and now Murkowski gets beat in the primary and wants to bolt the party and run as an independent.

Culling the herd of the weak and stupid is not a bad thing.

If only the GOP had the nerve to do it. I don't ever see them punishing Murkowski...

Best wishes,

Wow, I'm amazed, tonight Murkowski has resigned from the Senate leadership, apparently after McConnell told her she no longer had his support. I'm impressed that it appears the Senate may be getting the message from the voters.

Best wishes,
Laura
