Believe it or Not the GOP's Ground Game Let us Down

How can you look at a 60+ seat House and 6 Senate seat gain and find problems?  It's not that hard.  Some were quick to blame conservatives and Tea Party activists for several Senate losses, but Erick Erickson says the lack of a 72-hour ground game from the RNC caused several Republicans to underperform their polls and others to lose close races.  He's calling it political malpractice:
Just the facts. That’s all I’m going to give you here — no blame game. No names.

Largely because I don’t want RNC people calling and crying and trying to spin me when all I’m doing is pointing out some facts.

It has been suggested that the reason the GOP didn’t take more Senate seats is because of conservatives. The facts show otherwise.

What the facts show is that while you and I are focused on the most House pickups since 1948, we probably should have made even bigger House gains. Likewise, we probably could have taken the Senate. Losing the Senate had nothing to do with conservative candidates and everything to do with GOTV.
GOTV is short for "get out the vote". You can read the rest of Erick's analysis here.  If he's right the GOP is going to have to have a better plan for 2012 or we'll end up giving back some of the gains we made.
