I've been largely away from news during this Texas trip, but got word of the shooting of the Arizona congresswoman from a music colleague. My initial reaction probably mirrored yours- it doesn't matter what her particular political party or persuasions are, there's never any justification for this type of violent action against a public official.
It looks like this was the action of a nut, and I hope that's true. Efforts to point the blame at political entities for craven political gain should and will be rejected.
I join with America in prayers for the recovery of Rep. Giffords.
