I enjoy listening to the Orange County Fire Authority dispatch radio since I live in an area they serve and I like to know what's going on when I hear sirens. Once in a while things happen very nearby, like tonight when a kitchen fire dispatch just a couple of blocks away came over the radio. Of course, I had to see what's going on (and continued to listen to the reports thanks to the mobile version of the dispatch app):
That's a rather poorly lit shot of Engine 24 and Truck 22 helping one of my neighbors out. Three other engines had been dispatched but were turned around when 24 reported the incident as "food on the stove". That happens more often than you might think. I hear those calls all the time.
They'll use the ventilation equipment on the truck to get the smoke out of the house and hopefully everything will return to normal for everybody.
It's nice to know those guys are there when you need them.
