Gov. Walker Not Dissuaded by Angry Union Thugs

Gov. Scott Walker in Wisconsin doesn't seem terribly impressed by the protests at the state capital:
As union supporters geared up for their for sixth day of protests at the Wisconsin Capitol, Gov. Scott Walker reiterated Sunday that he wouldn't compromise on the issue that had mobilized them, a bill that would eliminate most of public employees' collective bargaining rights.

Democratic lawmakers have said they and union members would agree to financial concessions that the Republican governor wants in exchange for workers keeping their collective-bargaining rights. But Mr. Walker said he wasn't willing to budge, and he expected the bill to pass as is.

"We're willing to take this as long as it takes because in the end we're doing the right thing," he told Fox News from Madison.

On Saturday, public employee union members protesting against the bill were met by several thousand counter demonstrators from the tea party waving "Don't Tread on Me" flags and shouting "Pass the bill!" Officials estimated the total number of people in and around the statehouse near 70,000.
Let me tell you why Gov. Walker isn't terribly bothered by the protests. Let's say 50,000 of those people on Saturday were union thugs and their cohorts protesting Walker's budget repair bill (with the rest of them being part of the pro-Walker crowd). 50,000 is a fair number of people, but it's not more than the 1,128,887 people that voted to make Walker their governor based on his promise to fix the budget problems.

Governor, unless more people show up in Madison than voted for you last year, I wouldn't sweat it.

There's a good, and lengthy, piece by Robert Costa on Gov. Walker's plans at National Review.

Wages in the private sector are inhibited from rising to unsustainable levels by competition. The UAW learned (or should have learned) that when the price of their workers gets too high, non-union workers in foreign-owned and/or foreign located plants make cars Americans buy. What constrains the price of public sector workers? When in their "price" in wages and benefits too high? Taxpayers can only vote and express support for the likes of Gov. Walker. Unless you want to continue to pay through the nose for public services, you better do more of the latter. We don't get many chances to do the former.

Why do Republicans hate America so much? Why do they want to destroy the middle class and all they have worked to achieve? It's madness.

Why does "Anonymous" hate America so much? Why does he/she/it want to take more of middle class America's earnings in the form of taxes and union dues to fund Democrat campaigns? Why? WHY?? IT'S MADNESS!!

Unions are the last thing standing between the serf/lord economy the Republicans would like to bring back and the America we’ve gotten comfortable with since FDR.

Republicans generally see themselves sittin’ on their verandas, sippin’ mint juleps and watching their field-hand serfs work their fields down below.

Don't know many Republicans, do you BlackHand? Cause that's about the dumbest thing I've ever read, and that's saying something.

By the way, are you aware that FDR was opposed to public employee unions? Look it up.
