Panderer-in-Chief Decides to Stop Defending the Defense of Marriage Act

Could it be that Obama is running out of friends and desperately needs some new ones:
President Obama has decided that the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional and has asked his Justice Department to stop defending it in court, the administration announced today.

“The President believes that DOMA is unconstitutional. They are no longer going to be defending the cases in the 1st and 2nd circuits,” a person briefed on the decision said.
Interestingly enough, Obama has ordered the DOJ to continue to enforce the law even as he orders them not to defend it in court. This is a guy who ran for election saying he was opposed to gay marriage but would work to overturn DOMA.  Either a first-class panderer or a very confused individual.

Frankly, I don't really care what happens to DOMA on the federal level because I believe this should be a state matter.  The feds should have nothing to do with determining marriage laws, nor should there be a Constitutional amendment about marriage as many on the right have proposed.  I don't like using the Constitution to solve social issue disputes.

10th Amendment.  Let the states decide, and if your state decides differently than do you, you can work to change it or move somewhere else.

UPDATE:
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) issued a statement today indicating that it is her “intention to introduce legislation that will once and for all repeal the Defense of Marriage Act.”
