Wisconsin Union Thugs Go After Bloggers

Ann Althouse is a law professor at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI, and she also runs a pretty successful blog.  She and her husband Meade had a major national political story dropped in their front yard and they've taken full advantage of it, providing some of the best unfiltered reporting of the goings on around and in the State Capitol building since the protests began, complete with pictures and video.  One of Althouse's videos, that of union teachers leading small children in anti-Gov. Walker/pro-union chants in the rotunda of the Capitol, even made it onto Fox News yesterday.

Along the way Althouse and Meade have had a few run-ins, but for the most part have been able to go about their reporting in peace.  Until today, that is.  Some pro-union thug has posted a threatening notice that claims Madison is "theirs", and Althouse and Meade are banned from the city.  They list places the couple likes to eat and hang out, and claims they'll put wanted posters up and will deny them the right to partake in their regular lives in Madison.  The details can be found at Althouse's site.

This is now the new tactic of the left.  I began to see it during the post-2008 election anger over Prop 8 when opponents of the measure started targeting those who had contributed to Prop 8 and threatening them and their employers.  That same thing is now happening in Wisconsin with union thugs, and even official union leadership, extorting businesses that supported Gov. Walker and demanding they rescind their support lest their businesses be damaged.

The left has never figured out that these things can work both ways.  Just as outraged lefties can choose not to do business with people who don't agree with them, so too can the right refuse to pay their good money to bad people.  And with the Republicans currently running things in Wisconsin, there are also political tools that can be used to good effect.

As far as the latest situation involving Althouse, the rant that was posted would in many states be considered a "terrorist threat" and would earn the poster a felony charge.  With the cops in Madison seeming to be a bunch of union lackeys I'm not sure she'll get much protection, but I also doubt she'll be intimidated by this thuggish effort.  I'm sure this isn't the last we'll hear of this situation.

UPDATE:  The thug who wrote the screed against Althouse and Meade has been identified.  Much more at The Other McCain.  The guy's a nutjob lefty who lives in a ...wait for it...commune.  Classic.
