57% Will Accept Government Shutdown in Exchange for Deeper Budget Cuts

From Rasmussen:
A majority of voters are fine with a partial shutdown of the federal government if that’s what it takes to get deeper cuts in federal government spending.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 57% of Likely U.S. Voters think making deeper spending cuts in the federal budget for 2011 is more important than avoiding a partial government shutdown. Thirty-one percent (31%) disagree and say avoiding a shutdown is more important. Twelve percent (12%) are not sure.
Just a reminder, when the Democrats talk about a government shutdown, very little of the government will actually shutdown. You'll still get your mail, government checks will continue to go out, the military will still guard our shores - all the important stuff will still get done. You might not be able to visit the Smithsonian or one of the national parks, but to most Americans a budget-induced shutdown will be pretty invisible.  Oh, the media will flog it as though it's the end of the world, but it's not.
