The Next War

Some on the left have been falling all over themselves trying to justify the war in Libya strictly on the basis of a humanitarian mission to save lives.  This is supposed to override the fact that there was no vital national interest in   getting involved over there.

So, what do we do about this?
AP, citing the charity Caritas, says more than 1,000 people found massacred in a western Ivory Coast town.
There's a civil war going on in Ivory Coast. Should that be our next war? We have about as much national interest in Ivory Coast as we do in Libya.

And what about Syria?  Or Yemen?  Or Cuba?  Or Iran?  Or China?  Or any number of other countries run by dictatorial governments that shoot protesters?

Going to war for reasons other than vital national interest is a recipe for failure.
