Sen. Mark Leno Moves His Obsession With His Crotch Into the Classroom

California Sen. Mark Leno (San Francisco, of course) is a one-man band for gay activism.  He's absolutely obsessed with what's in his pants.  I've never seen a politician so laser-focused on what's going on with his crotch as Leno is (at least not since Teddy Kennedy died).  Where most politicians likely have pictures of their families in their offices, I'm guessing Leno has a self-portrait of his genitals which he eagerly shows to the 4th graders making the traditional Sacramento elementary school trips.  I imagine there has been many an embarrassing moment for his staff who have had to remind him to pull up his pants before one of his meetings.

Now he's trying to move his obsession into the classroom:
The state Senate has approved legislation that would require California’s public schools to include gay history in social studies lessons.

The bill, sponsored by Democratic Sen. Mark Leno of San Francisco, passed Thursday on a 23-14 vote. The measure now goes to the Assembly.

It leaves it up to local school districts to decide what to include in the lessons and at what grade students would receive them.

Leno and other supporters say it is needed to counter anti-gay stereotypes and beliefs that make gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender children vulnerable to bullying and suicide.

Opponents said it would burden an already crowded curriculum and expose students to a subject that some parents find objectionable.
There aren't enough Republicans in the Assembly to stop this, and without a doubt Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown will sign it.

Boy, am I glad my kids are out of public school.

It's really ridiculous. My son is now in 7th grade and he must have had some version of sex ed at least three times (usually called something innocuous like 'health'). In the latest one, he brought home some helpful brochures showing him clinics in the area that he can go to for 'family planning services' and places where you can safely surrender a newborn. Which I'm sure is on the mind of every 12 year old.

We've had homework assignments on an Arabic dictionary, Egyptian hieroglyphics, California Native American Tribes and Martin Luther King.

So many agendas that there is no time to teach the constitution, the legislative process, civics, 'traditional' American history, classic literature, etc.

It's sad.
