Helen Dunsford,66, leaped into action when a woman tried to rob an Oakland Park, Fla., Bank of America branch, tackling the suspect and pinning her to the ground until authorities arrived on the scene.
Officers responding to the scene said Dunsford told them she made the decision to act because she "was dying of cancer, figured she had nothing to lose and didn't want to see her get away with it," the report said.
Dunsford, who told the paper she was instructed by the FBI not to answer questions from the media about the incident, reportedly charged the would-be robber, saying "I've got cancer. You could kill me if you want!"
