We tried a new walk today through the Dana Point Headlands. We started up at the Dana Point Interpretative Center and then headed down through the coastal scrub, along the beach, and back around to the Center. About 2 1/2 miles altogether and it seems like a lot of it is uphill.
The previous post has the view from the top of the hill before you head down a winding path to the beach, and fortunately some of the uphill climb is handled by a small funicular railway. Here's looking up the steep climb.
And looking back down from the top. This little railway is a real old man leg saver. On the other side of that fence is a very long set of stairs.
From the top of the bluffs you can look out along the Headlands. The photo in the previous post was taken from right below the buildings on the hill in the distance. The area below this shot area bunch of largely undeveloped homesites waiting for new houses to be built. You can see one house there, but many of the sites are still undeveloped.
