The Weather Story That Hasn't Gotten as Much Attention - Flooding

Not only have there been devastating tornadoes in recent weeks across much of the country, flooding has been an ongoing problem in much of the middle of the country.  The area around Branson, MO has been especially hard hit, and Christian entertainer and Branson showman Dino Kartsonakis has suffered terrible flooding in his home.

I've got a couple of connections to Dino. On New Year's Eve 1986 my old quartet sang for a fundraising banquet in Anaheim that featured Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Thurl Ravenscoft (Tony the Tiger) and Dino. I think that was the first time I'd heard him play.

On October 29, 1988 my wife and I went to another Dino concert at a church in Yorba Linda. She was predominately pregnant at the time, and frankly the show was so loud that we decided to leave at intermission. At the restaurant afterward her water broke (glad that didn't happen at the concert) and we were off to the hospital. Our daughter was born the next afternoon. Maybe the loud piano music motivated her to get out of there the way it motivated us to get out of the church.

Oh, and if you watched the video you saw former televangelist Jim Bakker.  I was there in the early 70's with my old quartet the day Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, along with Paul and Jan Crouch, dedicated the original Trinity Broadcasting studios in Tustin, CA.  That was before the two couples had a falling out and Jim and Tammy Faye left and set-up PTL in South Carolina.
