Another Officer Injured During a Police Funeral

I never thought of funeral processions as being particularly dangerous, but last week one officer was killed and another injured during a police funeral for an officer that died of cancer, and today during the funeral for the officer killed last week another officer was seriously injured:
A Cypress motorcycle police officer was seriously hurt Friday afternoon as he coordinated the funeral procession for Hawthorne motorcycle officer Andrew Garton who was killed last month while he coordinated traffic from his motorcycle for during officer's funeral.

The accident this afternoon happened in cypress sometime after 5 p.m. near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Cobblestone Lane in Cypress.

Cypress police spokesman Robert Cote told NBC4 LA the injured officer was taken to the trauma unit at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. The initial report from the scene was that the hurt officer suffered several broken bones.
Tough business.

Not far from me. So sad. Officer Garton was the son-in-law, I believe it was, of a couple at my mom's church.

Best wishes,
