Democrats Take Full Ownership of Anthony Weiner

I'm thankful everyday that Nancy Pelosi continued in the leadership of the House Democrats.  Yesterday she basically gave the Democrats full ownership of Weiner and his scandal.  Gateway Pundit compares how Pelosi responded to the Rep. Mark Foley (R) scandal in 2006 and the Rep. Anthony Weiner (D) scandal in 2011:
Back in 2006 Nancy Pelosi was leading the charge on the Foley email scandal. She said it was for the children.
Pelosi statement on the Foley investigation:

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on news reports that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is opening a preliminary investigation of the sexually explicit e-mails Congressman Mark Foley sent an underage former House Page.
The FBI is rightly investigating former Republican Congressman Mark Foley?s reported internet stalking of an underage former House Page. Mr. Foley is outside the reach of the House Ethics Committee, however the required investigation into the cover up of Mr. Foley?s behavior by the Republican Leadership must quickly move forward.
The children who work as Pages in the Congress are Members special trust. Statements by the Republican Leadership indicate that they violated this trust when they were made aware of the internet stalking of an underage Page by Mr. Foley and covered it up for six months to a year.
Congress must not pass the buck on investigating this cover up. The children, their parents, the public, and our colleagues must be assured that such abhorrent behavior is not tolerated and will never happen again.
But, now she’s giving Rep. Weiner a pass.
The AP reported:

Amid increasing calls for Rep. Anthony Weiner to resign, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi says the decision should be up to the congressman and his New York constituents.
The former speaker said in San Francisco that she believes the decision should be made by “the individual member” and the people in his district.
Weiner, a seven-term Democrat, has admitted sending sexually explicit photos and messages over the Internet to a half dozen women over the past three years. Pelosi has asked the House Ethics Committee to investigate whether Weiner used any government resources.
Weiner told a newspaper Thursday he would not resign. At least nine House members and three senators said he should quit.
Two former Democratic Party chairmen also said he should resign.
Thank you, Nancy. You're the gift that keeps on giving.

UPDATE:  I guess Nancy didn't get the memo:
@TheFix: DNC Chair drops hammer on Weiner; "It is with great disappointment that I call on Representative Anthony Weiner to resign."
UPDATE 2: Within seconds of the DNC call for resignation comes this:
Breaking: Pelosi now suggests Weiner should resign says he should "seek help w/out the pressures of being a Member of Congress."
Well, she was never known for being consistent.
