The Patriotic Millionaires, a group of millionaires who believe that government should increase the tax rate for millionaires, released a video calling on congress to raise their taxes.First of all, nobody is stopping them from wasting more money on government. They can write a check to the federal treasury anytime they want and the government will take that money and squander it as only they can. But these guys apparently lack the self-control to write that check, so they want the government to make them and everyone else in their income bracket do it. For guys who have been as successful in making money as they have been, they're pretty dumb. If they managed their budgets the way government does they wouldn't have all this money to throw around.
The group, organized by The Agenda Project, seeks to end the Bush Tax Cuts that Obama extended last year, saying that it is unfair to give tax cuts to people in the highest income bracket.
“You decided our country needed less money, and millionaires like me needed more,” says the script of the video, read by a series of millionaires who signed the original petition.
“Less money for roads to transfer our products, for high speed internet to build our technology companies, for science research, education, for universities, and research to spark our innovation,” they say.
“Rich people are not the cause of a robust economy, they’re the result of a robust economy,” one says.
A series of millionaires explain how the government, or government funded entities like public schools, have contributed to their success.
“Tax me,” one concludes, “because my country, our country, means more than my money.”
There's nothing patriotic about wanting to waste your money. It's just foolish.

Many of the signers of the petition only used their initials, or first name and last initial, so it's impossible to tell if they really are millionaires or just liberals who think the rich should get raped (more).
If the proponents of this suicide pact really are millionaires, I wonder what percentage of them gained their wealth through inheritance, as opposed to first-generation millionaires who worked their butts off to get where they are.
This is the same scam that I saw a decade or so ago, where a 'pro-gun' group was started as a front for gun control. It was called something like the 'Gun Owners Association' and was sold as a reasonable answer to the unreasonable NRA and pushed things like owner licensing gun registration and bans. It went nowhere because it wound up being just one liberal with an internet connection.
They SAY that THEY should pay more taxes, so the "Bush Tax Cuts" should be repealed/let expire. This translates to "you guys pay more taxes", not that "we'll voluntarily pay the gummmint MORE than what we, or our accountants, say we must".
