The New Civility

Today Jon Huntsman (or "John" if you work for his campaign) kicked off his presidential run with a speech in front of the Statue of Liberty.  Look at this headline:
Jon Huntsman makes it official, takes veiled swipes at Obama
"Veiled swipes." In other words, he met the standards of the new civility by not calling Obama out by name or being very specific in what Obama has done wrong.

Pure milquetoast. Read the article for his comments.

He was going for a comparison to Ronald Reagan, who kicked off the 1980 campaign with a speech having a similar background, but the only similarity was the big green lady in the distance. Take a listen to Reagan's speech that day in 1980 and see how many "veiled swipes" Reagan took at Jimmuh Carter. Reagan didn't swipe - he hit him with a sledgehammer and won 49 states that November (h/t Rush).

Where's the candidate that going to defy the new civility and hit Obama right between the eyes?
