Spent much of the day roaming around Sacramento State in preparation for tomorrow's transfer orientation. A few thoughts:
Tomorrow is the day-long orientation and registration followed by a 7 hour drive home. Probably won't hear much from me tomorrow.

- Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, we talked to at the school, from the Dept. Chair to the Dept. Secretary to the Residence Advisor to the Administration people to the Student Union fast food employees, couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Not a bad experience in the bunch.
- The campus is beautiful, with tons of big trees, and the American River, which runs next to the campus, is spectacular.
- The campus holds the largest collection of spoiled squirrels I've ever seen. They're absolutely fearless and are quite used to being fed by students. They'll alln but kick you in the shins if you don't feed them.
- The Well, the nearly new health and fitness center, is absolutely state-of-the-art. It's got all kinds of stuff I'd probably never use.
- The traffic around Sacramento is pretty bad-much worse than where my daughter went to school. That will take some getting used to.

UCLA has some pretty bold squirrels.
Saw a guy walk up to a bank of vending machines (squirrel high-rent district), shaking the change in his pocket. That sound brought the squirrel front and center like a chow bell. Also saw a Bruin squirrel picking through a student's backpack while the student was sleeping next to it on the grass.
Cheeky little buggers.
