What Do You Do With a Cooked Weiner?

That's the dilemma facing Democrats today:
With a defiant Rep. Anthony Weiner resisting calls from colleagues to quit and President Barack Obama saying he'd resign if he were in Weiner's shoes, House Democrats are wrestling with how to put the embarrassing online sex scandal behind them.

Democrats met behind closed doors Tuesday for the first time since the New York congressman admitted to sexually charged online relationships with several women and lying to hide his misdeeds. Frustration among Democrats is increasing as the scandal moves into its third week.

Democrats could try to oust the seven-term congressman from the House Democratic caucus or try to strip him of his committee assignment on the Energy and Commerce panel in hopes of persuading him to quit Congress.

Going into the meeting, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, D-N.Y., told reporters, "Hopefully, we're hearing he might resign in a couple of days." She did not elaborate.

Obama's blunt words could help Democrats trying to oust Weiner.

"I can tell you that if it was me, I would resign," Obama told NBC's "Today" show.
I have a feeling they're going to be stuck with this guy for a long time. Politics and congress is all he's got, and if he leaves, especially after having been found guilty only of bad judgment and immorality, but not of breaking any laws, he'll be a broken man. My guess is he hangs on for everything he's got because bottom line, they can't throw him out.

I'm hoping he'll hang on with a death-grip. And it will be a death-grip...for his congressional career.
