There is a glimmer of economic hope in California as sales tax and vehicle license fees drop today. The sales tax will drop 1% and the change in vehicle license fees should make reregistering your car a little less painful. Gov. Moonbeam wanted to extend both of those but couldn't get approval from the legislature. Let's see what the economy does with a lessened tax burden.
As previously reported here, Moonbeam signed the internet sales tax law which resulted in both Amazon and Christianbook.com canceling my affiliate agreement with them. Both are refusing to collect sales tax on California purchases and I'm sure a court fight is coming.
For those folks who bought hybrids because they could get a sticker that allowed them to drive solo in the carpool lanes: PSYCHE! You can't ride there anymore. Too many of you fell for the deal and clogged up the carpool lanes.

My husband bought a lot of lumber today to build some shelves and was sure glad that sales tax went down. :)
Best wishes,
Laura
