31 American Troops Killed in Afghan Helicopter Crash

A very tough day for American forces:
A military helicopter crashed in eastern Afghanistan, killing 31 U.S. special operation troops and seven Afghan commandos, the country's president said Saturday. An American official said it was apparently shot down, in the deadliest single incident for American forces in the decade-long war.
Are we making any progress over there? Is it worth the continued cost in lives and dollars? I'm having my doubts.

UPDATE:  I'm hearing the most of those killed were from Navy SEAL Team 6, the same group that got Osama bin Laden.  If so, that's going to be a major propaganda boost to Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

UPDATE2: Officials don't believe any of those who died today were part of the operation to get bin Laden, but they were from the same unit.
