The Department of Jobs?

This should make us all feel better:

The administration may also merge the Department of Commerce, the Office of the United States Trade Representative and some economic divisions at the State Department into a new agency, administration officials said. Possible names include the Department of Jobs or the Department of Competitiveness.

I'll agree that with the exception of The National Weather Service, the Commerce Department is pretty much useless. But don't we already have a Labor Department (which is likewise useless)?

Creating a new federal agency will do for jobs what the Homeland Security Department did for airport security - just increase the number of federal workers without actually making anything better.
