Don't Look For the Union Label

Among the workers for Obama's birthday bash, that is:
President Barack Obama’s decision to hire non-union workers to staff his birthday-party fundraiser isn’t sitting well with Big Labor, and Obama’s upcoming milestone has inspired a series of running jokes on Twitter.

Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft reports that union members are “OUTRAGED” at Obama’s decision to staff the Thursday party with non-union help. Why avoid the union label? Hoft explains: “If POTUS is late, and [the] party goes late, they would face MASSIVE overtime [expenses] if they do not feed the crew enough meals on time.”
I remember back in the 60's and 70's a local promoter used to do monthly gospel quartet concerts at the old Long Beach Auditorium. I remember going to one concert there featuring the Oak Ridge Boys along with 3 other groups that didn't even break for intermission until 11:15 am (it started at 7). The concert finally ended around 1:30 am. There were probably 6,000 in attendance, 4,000 of them that were still there at the end.

The old auditorium was torn down and the new Terrace Theater complex was built and the concerts moved over there. New union rules required the concerts to end at 10pm or the promoter faced huge added costs. Within a couple of years the concert attendance dropped so much they moved to a high school where they didn't face those union restrictions. There no doubt that the union rules hurt that concert series.

They are so good at pricing themselves out of work.
