The House passed the debt bill with plenty of votes to spare. The Congressional Black Caucus refused to vote until all the Republicans had finished. Tell me again why we allow race-based organizations to exist in Congress?
The emotional high point came when Rep. Gabby Giffords came onto the floor to cast her vote. It was her first time in the House since she was terribly wounded in the Tucson shooting. Regardless of party, you have to be glad to see her there.
She managed to leave rehab and vote. The Black Caucus had to play games. I find that juxtaposition interesting.
