Nearly Half Say Spending Cuts Will Lead to Violence

Liberals love polls like this:
Nearly one-out-of-two Americans (48%) think that cuts in government spending are at least somewhat likely to lead to violence in the United States, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. But that includes just 13% who feel it’s Very Likely.

Nearly as many Adults (44%), however, believe violence as the result of spending cuts is unlikely, but only 12% say it’s Not At All Likely.
And who do you think will be committing this violence? Most likely the people who have had their hands out for years and will now face having to earn their money the old fashioned way.  Given the impact social welfare programs have had in destroying inner city families and social ties, it wouldn't surprise me a bit to see London-like riots spring up all over the country in major urban areas where so many of these federal dollars go do die.

But that's no reason not to make the cuts.  That's the reason to get it over with as quickly as we can.  At least in the U.S. we won't have an unarmed and defenseless populace that can't fight back as they have in London.

Steyn said basically the same thing in the Opinion section of the Register this morning. And so long as our police force doesn't sit on the sidelines like the British police, we'll be OK, riots or no riots.

For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be nothing required.

And those men who have committed much, of them will be asked the more.
