What London Needs is Some Armed Korean Shopkeepers

A tip of the hat to reader Larry for reminding me of something from the L.A. riots in '92. The riots threatened to spill over into the Koreatown part of Los Angeles, and would have wreaked havoc on businesses in that area had it not been for the actions of Korean store owners who took to their roofs armed the assorted weaponry.  The rioters left them alone.

Sadly for the Brits, the country's tremendously dumb gun laws have ensured plenty of unarmed and helpless victims who may be looted and burned at will. While it is possible, through a laborious and expensive process, to get a permit for certain sporting guns, having a weapon for self-defense purposes is pretty much verboten.

And, if you happen to use your sporting weapon to scare off an intruder, chances are you'll be the one going to jail.

As London goes into its fourth night of rioting, it's a helpful reminder to Americans that as the welfare state breaks down in this country and the receivers of your tax dollars lose their benefits, the best protection you can have is a gun and lots of ammunition. Get them while you still can.
